Thank you for your interest in Phoenix Hybrid Batteries.

Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner Hybrids have a chronic issue with discharging batteries. They sit for too long, their batteries discharge, and they can’t be started.

From 2005-2008, Ford installed HV jump starters that allowed one to “jump” the high voltage battery with the 12V. This would be just enough juice to allow the car to start and charge the hybrid battery with the engine driven motor/generator.

Unfortunately, Ford removed the HV jump start in 2009 because “it’s never been needed.” I won’t comment on the questionable wisdom, but I can safely say it’s a big issue on 2009 and up models.

We have had great success recharging batteries with about a dozen completed in the last year or so. You will need to tow the vehicle to us. We’ll conduct a free diagnostic to verify the low HV voltage condition before we ever charge you a cent. Once we confirm the battery voltage is low, we can disassemble and charge the HV battery for $400.
